Every month of the year is dedicated to an aspect of our faith worthy of pondering.
The month of JUNE highlights the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
“Behold this Heart which has so loved men, that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself in order to testify to its love." |
June is devoted to the heart of our Lord, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The aim of devotion to the Sacred Heart is to make the Lord king over our hearts by prompting them to return love to Him, especially through an act of consecration by which we offer to the Heart of Jesus both ourselves and all that belongs to us, and to make reparation for our ingratitude to God.
Jesus has loved us with a furious love. Never will we know a greater, more pure, more all consuming love. In depictions of the Sacred Heart as revealed to St. Margaret Mary, Jesus' heart is engulfed in flames. He is on fire with love for us. He suffered and died for us. He is the source of our life and salvation and has spared nothing to come close to us. In this month, we have an opportunity to come to know Jesus in a deeper, more intimate way and to choose to make a concrete response to the unfathomable love he has shown to us.
Consider committing to one of the ideas below to make a return of love to Jesus, in particular, consider consecrating yourself to the Sacred Heart.

The month of the Sacred Heart at St. Patrick
As one of the Church's most beloved devotions, there are many ways to honor the Sacred Heart this month. The following are some of the most treasured in the Church's history. Consider doing one or all of them this month!
Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home
The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart is a recognition of the loving kingship of the Heart of Jesus in the Christian family. The family acknowledges this recognition by solemnly installing an image of the Sacred Heart in a place of honor in the home and dedicating itself to Him by an Act of Consecration. The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart is the recognition of the living presence of our Lord in the home, where His Divine Heart, as King of Love, is the center of the family, attracting all its members. Images of the Sacred Heart can be purchased from St. Patrick. Consecration of the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The family is dedicated to Christ so that he might reign in the hearts of all its members and so that the members might participate more deeply in the mystery of the unity and love of Christ for the Church. Invite Father Vasek to come and lead your family in being consecrated to Jesus' Heart or pray the prayer of consecration together as a family on your own. |
Personal Consecration to the Sacred Heart
Pope Pius XI described personal consecration to the Sacred Heart as the principal devotional practice used in relation to the Sacred Heart. (Miserentissimus redemptor). Take some time before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and offer him your whole life through the words of this consecration prayer. Celebrate First Fridays
The pious practice of the first Fridays of the month derives from the great promises made by Jesus to St. Margaret Mary. The promise states "In the excessive mercy of His Heart that His all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in His disgrace, no without receiving the sacraments. His divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment." Celebration of First Fridays involves receiving the Eucharist at Mass the first Friday of the month, going to Confession and offering your prayers for the intentions of the Holy Father. Mass will be offered Friday, June 2nd at 11:30 am at St. Patrick. |
