Every month of the year is dedicated to an aspect of our faith worthy of pondering.
The month of JANUARY highlights the Holy Name of Jesus.
The Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus falls on January 3rd and the whole month is dedicated to Jesus' holy and saving name. His name is "the name above all names" (Phil 2:9) and "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
This month invites us to contemplate the salvation won for us in Christ and to offer our lives to him more fully in surrender to his powerful name. It is a good month to meditate on the power of Jesus' name and the promises he makes to us in the Gospel: "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14: 12-14).
